It's sort of what I was expecting. It's a really good device which is unfortunately flawed. I personally would have liked to seen Microsoft just make a pure laptop/ultrabook and skip the hybrid approach. There's always going to be compromise with an hybrid approach and I'm not sure the cost...

That's a big piece of the puzzle. A more powerful processor doesn't get you much if it's throttles itself under heavy loads.

I would settle from them to double down and fixing all of the bugs in Windows 10. It has so much potential however it's becoming a daily routine for me to submit feedback into the feedback app for new issues I've discovered.

I've across that issue a few types. It seems like I come across a reboot needed issue at least once a day with W10. Microsoft has some work to do.

I'm going to find graphics performance benchmark interesting seeing that the new Skylake processors with Iris includes 64 MB of eDRAM. That should help tighten the performance gap with dedicated solutions. Kudo's to Microsoft for going this route.

Screen wobble is a deal killer for me. I'm super sensitive to screen wobble on high DPI screens. It's hard enough for me to read small text when it's completely stationary.

I'm mildly interested in updating my SP3 to SP4. I do some gaming on my SP3 and having an i7 with Iris would help improve things. However I'm not sure the numbers with work for me. I spent $1299 on my SP3 last year and I can't see myself spending 1.5k+ on a SP4 for the performance gain.

Microsoft website listed the i7 processor as supporting Iris graphics which isn't included in the i7-6600U. I bet it's the i7-6650U instead. Intel® Core™ i7-6650U Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz) Specifications

Tom Warren tweeted the answer last night. The SP4 will work with the SP3 docking station but a spacer is needed. The spacer will be free from Microsoft store.

On my Surface Pro 3 I'm been using VMware workstation (v10 and v11) without a hitch for the last 1.5 years. I can only image the same for the SP4.

I think you're correct. I would be glad to fully test it out if Microsoft were to provide me a seed unit. ;)

Is the old SP3 docking station compatible with the SP4? I thought Microsoft made a guarantee it would be.
