Workarounds are something you have to get used to with windows from time to time. If it works just the same I can't see a problem. Most OS's don't even have other options so its good workarounds exist.

I got a call from Microsoft offering me a £25 voucher for the issue I had with my card. Wasn't there fault the bank stopped the payment thinking it was fraud, but thanks Microsoft. I asked about dispatch and he said definitely within the next couple of days .

Thinking back to my Surface RT it certainly didn't come on release day as they messed it up. My Surface 2 I got a month after launch so don't know on that one. We will know tomorrow :)

You could also create a VHDX file on the sd card. They can be mounted and are viewed by the computer as a separate drive.

Do you think Microsoft will dispatch tomorrow for delivery on Thursday or will they dispatch Thursday? Hope its the former.

That could be the difference then as I don't use my phone much when charging.

Do you really notice a USB charger draining your Surface battery? I charge my phone for long periods from my S2 and have never noticed the battery drain.

The article you link to refers to Wi-Fi and not a Ethernet connection so are you sure that the VPN is the issue? You could get a USB to Ethernet adapter cheap and use a USB port on the dock. Cant see why that wouldn't work.

It is bad that they have shipped with such issues still present. However the US is always first so are most likely to get more problems. Hopefully the next patch will sort everything before its released to more markets.

Because Microsoft need to support thousands of computer configurations both software and hardware. That's a huge task. Apple on the other hand have hardly any configurations to deal with. Its good that its the new computers that are having the problems in some ways as if it was older computers...

Windows 10 is a much more complicated OS compared to OSX. It has to support so many different devices and its just silly to expect it to work flawlessly on everything. Although Microsoft quality control should have picked up the graphics driver problem on there own products I think.

I pre-ordered my SP4 i5/256/8gb last week but got a email this morning saying there was a problem with my card! Hopefully sorted that one out now just hoping I haven't delayed it :(.

Don't install all the updates then update to 8.1 from the store. Just install KB2871389 and that will show up the 8.1 update. That will take ages to install... Then theres Update 1. Install KB2919442, and that will show KB2919355. That's the big file. Then install the rest. Much quicker.

Ah I apologize it must be different for the SP2. I would certainly try an advanced restore though so you can rule out any software problems.

I think you are just viewing a web page and the Surface is clean.
