September Patch Tuesday - No WiFi Fix for SP3

I don't think I'm the "only" one, and if I knew what was the root cause you can rest assured that I'd communicate such things. Is your implication that the manufacturing and deployment process is so perfect that there is not room for error or product variance? Perhaps they got a bad run of this...

September Patch Tuesday - No WiFi Fix for SP3

So my WiFi router is reaching into my SP3 and removing the bluetooth and Marvell AC Wireless from the SP3's device listing? Wow...that's some seriously powerful tech. Just kidding (slightly...). Point is, I don't have any problems with WiFi connectivity either...when the device in the SP3...

September Patch Tuesday - No WiFi Fix for SP3

That behavior is only ONE of the multitude of issues this radio chipset seems to produce. That little trick aint gonna do you much good when you come out hibernation/sleep and the entire device has vanished from the system like a fart in the wind.

September Patch Tuesday - No WiFi Fix for SP3

Not true... I have never had the Hyper-V role enabled and I still get this on occassion coming out of sleep (even had it happen today after I got home from work). For me, not the end of the world and a quick trip to device mangler for a hardware rescan typically clears it right up. That being...

Pen Inking when hovering above screen

Wow... That is strange. I've never had that happen, in fact I've had the opposite happen where I get no hover until I actually touch the screen with the pen (very rare).

    Pen Performance

I think although it's been intimated that your idea of how N-Trig tech works is a bit...off, that you might still be a bit confused. The battery in N-Trig that is used to power the touch portion of the pen in now way communicates location information via bluetooth to the screen/device. I think...

    Pen Performance

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I take notes like crazy (EVERY DAY) in OneNote, and I have found the N-Trig on the SP3 to be as good if not better in some ways than the experience on the SP2 and SP1. Maybe I'm just holding it right :-D

Replace broken power supply through laptop power supply

I think you'd be taking your SP's life into your hands. Could one be found that might work after you hacked around on the connector? Perhaps... If you didn't get it just right and you fried your new toy would MS be on the hook to help you? Definitely not. I wouldn't take the chance, but then...

    Lets hear from the girls.

I think on a grander scale, most "techies" seem to completely lose track of what a small subset of the total human population they are. Most people haven't been on a BBS, Tech Forum, or IRC channel a day in their life and won't be doing so anytime soon either. Most folks utilize computing...

I may be a bit hard on the SP3 from time to time...

It's just a tether to protect against loss. It also has a....gasp...docking hole for the stylus...er pen.

I may be a bit hard on the SP3 from time to time...

Here's one for you though... Underneath that thing in my closet is a... GASP... A still working TC1000  Now THAT is a tablet PC that will drive you crazy. Ask a yungin these days about what a Transmeta proc is and they'll give you that sideways puppy dog head turn  I was so...

I may be a bit hard on the SP3 from time to time...

Dude, I'm a very busy consultant... and just having customers seeing what I do on the Surface Pro line in front of them has moved around 12 folks that I know of to go get one and give it (and Windows 8/8.1) a shot. I don't get uptight about technology... It, much like us measly humans, are...

I may be a bit hard on the SP3 from time to time...

But there's no doubt that the idea of pen based computing has come a long way! How long have I been longing for something like the SP3? Since before I got this thing eons ago! That things still tickin' and running Windows 7 Ultimate as best as its measly 512MB of RAM will let it. So let's...

Why I really dislike using my Surface Pro 2

All I can talk about is my own "seat of the pants" experiences with both the SP2 (which I'm typing on right now) and my SP3 (which is sitting on the other side of me). I can say for certain that the last firmware upgrade on the SP3 was a definite turn for the better. I was constantly thinking...

I use an app from the Windows Store called Spotlite. It's not official, but it's worked very well for me thus far.

my dream surface pro (for future design)

So...this is the deal. Either you CAN replace the tablet...or...you Cannot. It's pretty simple. In this false, fairy tale location you've created for yourselves here in the "I already bought into the MS Pro line"-world, I think it's pretty clear that the majority of folks here would find not...

my dream surface pro (for future design)

Not correct. If that's the case, no tablet manufacturer out there would be integrating LTE or Cellular modem capabilities in any tablet because clearly everyone has a phone and doesn't give a rat's you know what about always connected access. The reality is that integrating an LTE (or whatever...

Cisco AnyConnect NAM v3.1.05170 and Microsoft Account Troubles

Update folks... and I haven't tested this yet as I've been out on the road and not in the office to see if it now works or not, but it appears that the most recent update fixes several things that kept me from using the NAM on the Surface Pro 3. Here is the list of items fixed in the latest...
