Undervolting Boost Performance by 20% reduce heat and noise

Well, after further testing... at both -70mV and -60mV I'm getting reboots when the system attempts to enter sleep states. I've backed it down to -55mV and I'll give it some more cycles...I figured 70mV was going to be a bit too aggressive :D

Undervolting Boost Performance by 20% reduce heat and noise

Yep... Therefore the YMMV statement. You've got to be willing to test, test, and then test some more. And due to the great variability between yields on processors and chips... one might be able to pull 80mV of undervolt and be perfectly stable while the next will only be able to do 40mV...

Undervolting Boost Performance by 20% reduce heat and noise

I'll buy that for a dollar! Now, this firmly belongs in the YMMV camp, but if you've got a system that is stable undervolting, then most certainly on a system like the SP3...it could have a dramatic effect under some circumstances.

Excited new Surface Pro 3 owner

Welcome! I'm sure you'll be very happy with your new Surface Pro 3. I agree that the schizophrenic nature of Windows 8/8.1 is problematic, but at least they've somewhat improved things in 8.1 and I'm sure they'll make further improvements moving forward. I'd personally like to see them do...

    Surface Pro 3 Kickstand/Hinge Concern

I've never had any issues with any of the kickstands on either my SP1, SP2, or my SP3.

    Issue with OneNote (free version)

You can download the desktop version for free at www.OneNote.com but you might want to follow the "Windows" link in the "Get OneNote for free on all your devices" section and then choose "Other Download Options" to download the 64-Bit version if you already have other 64-Bit Office programs...

    Issue with OneNote (free version)

Hmmm... I avoid the Metro version like the plague and I don't seem to have that same issue on the desktop version. Wish I could help more :(

    Surface Pro 3 Kickstand/Hinge Concern

Much ado about nothing in my opinion. Even if it does do that without load, it most certainly doesn't jostle around in actual use... which is the only use that matters.

    Issue with OneNote (free version)

Metro version or Desktop? Perhaps you are inadvertently hitting the top button on the pen and therefore generating new pages accidentally?

    Surprisingly Bad Gaming Performance

My advice personally would be to go ahead and receive the device, set it up with your software that you use on a daily basis, and test it out. The form factor, screen, weight, aspect ratio, and more are all super wins no matter the issue with the thermals of the device. Only true utilization...

Cisco AnyConnect NAM v3.1.05170 and Microsoft Account Troubles

Thanks ZZATU. One way to use the built-in Windows Wireless control without uninstalling is to simply disable the filter driver in the wireless adapter properties. I guess...I'll have to drag the USB Ethernet adapter around everywhere with me for now :-)

    Surprisingly Bad Gaming Performance

I guess I'd first say that no one really knows yet because it's not yet available. However, that being said, it's fairly obvious that the i5 is currently thermally limited in the current design of the SP3. Therefore, it's only logical to conclude that the i7 will be as well. So, when you combine...

    Surprisingly Bad Gaming Performance

Look, if your current chip can only perform at ~40-60% of capabilities due to throttling, even a 20% percent drop in maximum performance will be an improvement if the thermal load is low enough to hit that max on any regular basis. Nobody's expecting the SP3 to be some sort of gaming god... but...

Surface Pro 3 pen top button change to Onenote 2013

I had originally installed OneNote 64-bit as part of my Office Installation and I was unable to start anything other than the Metro version with the pen. However, you can download a 64-Bit version of OneNote from www.OneNote.com, but not by hitting the download now on the homepage. You must...

    Another feature that I like

Maybe it's just mine, but the SP2 speakers sounded much better to me than the ones on my SP3

    Full Res anyone?

I'm utilizing the native resolution of the display and have no issues. It's one of the "slam dunks" as far as the best of what's new on the SP3 as far as I'm concerned. I find it much more enjoyable versus the resolution on the SP1/SP2.

Cisco AnyConnect NAM v3.1.05170 and Microsoft Account Troubles

Well, not that I expected any actual help anyway, but here's the MS Community forum response: "Thanks for posting in the Community Forum. I understand that you are unable to connect your Surface Pro 3 to your company's wireless network. I'm here to help you with this. As this is an issue with...

Surface Pro 3 experience by SP2 owners

I used my SP2 exclusively for my business, but I did long for a better, more tablet-like experience as I always felt that when using the SP2 for anything other than on desk/table work, it always felt a bit unwieldy. So, when the SP3 was introduced, I knew that I would be far happier with it. I...

Best app / software for recording screen to video

I think what you might want to look at is CamStudio. Not quite as nice and polished as Camtasia, but the price is right.
