You can adjust your touch pad through the mouse setting in control panel. I put a skin over the touch pad (I cut it out of a stickerboy keyboard back cover) and it made a big difference on the feel and accuracy of the touch pad.

I cut a cover for my track pad from a stickerboy sticker that was for the bottom of the keyboard I had lying around, and it made a world of difference on the feel and tracking of the track pad. I see now why Microsoft went with smooth track pad on the Surface Pro 3.

I have only used an external DVD to boot from. I have now installed Acronis, I have Acronis 2014. I got tried booting from the DVD, I didn’t like how long it took the make the image. I don’t think it uses the USB 3.0 speed like it does in Windows.

You can use a program like Acronis to make an image of your surface to an external hard drive. I did that after I updated to 8.1 before I installed my programs, and then again after I installed and setup all my programs.

Was your external monitor connected when you looked for it?

In your Intel control panel go to Display>Color>Advanced then YCbCr Enable. See if that helps.

Try changing to YCB, I think that is how it is in control panel. You will only see this setting when your monitor is connected.

The key combination to past into word or most programs is to hold down the Control (Ctrl) then press the v key. In word you can also go to Edit then paste. I like the key combination better. Like most everything in Windows there is a lot of way to do the same thing, you just need to find the one...

You click on the letter you want to use then hit select then copy. Then you go to word pad and past the letter from clipboard. If you use the same letters a lot then you can memorize the key combination to insert the letter.

I have not tried it but you might be able to use the character map to input in the run box.

Got mine today, now I can say that the Freedomcase will work fine with the power cover keyboard attracted.

Has anyone tried the freedom case with the power cover? I like the freedom case but I use the power cover all the time. I would like to know if you can close the case with the power cover on.

Did you remove the paper from the keyboard where it plugs into your surface? The one that says to not charge with the power cord.
