Got a used SP2 from Gazelle, interesting...

I hadn't thought of that! I know it is obviously little used which tickles me pink!! :) Now I just have to figure out why I need a SP2 to go with the SP3, to go with the Yoga 2 Pro, to go with the HP AIO! :) Too much tech, not enough time!! Maybe I'll throw W10TP on it. Well, right...

Got a used SP2 from Gazelle, interesting...

Got a 256Gb SP2 from Gazelle and noted a couple of odd thing. 1. The security keys weren't set right, got the red screen startup. easy to fix, just wonder why they did it that way. 2. Drive C showed at 200Gb so I ran the Disk Management tool to see how things were setup. It showed a...

    Unlimited OneDrive space

Seems to be some confusion about OneDrive, most of it caused by MS themselves. I see ads all the time for computers that have one year Office365 with them and they specifically say 1Tb of space, but yet the MS official line that I've seen is that it is 'unlimited'. I don't know if the freebie...

    Sad Reality of Apple's Users

My mom had never used a computer in her life, yet she took to the iPad Air like a duck to water. At 94 that was quite an accomplishment. I showed her my SP3 and she really hated it because it just wasn't quite simple enough for her very light needs.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

That's a good point. I was very dissatisfied with the battery eating with W10P and went back to W8.1. And I run Defender, Malwarebytes and use Chrome all the time, and was when I had W10P 10130 on the SP3. I'll keep watching here to see if others have seen big improvements in battery life by...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I expect they will sort it all out at some point in time. I will be watching as I have since the first build came out, to see how it progresses. If I had to pick a time to put the full release version on the SP3 it wouldn't be in the first few weeks I suspect. My Yoga 2 Pro and HP AIO...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

If it was a firmware issue then my SP3 would get more than 3 hours on a charge while running. I get 5+ hours under W8.1 on average and oft times longer than that. And I don't see discharging while sleeping with 8.1 either. Well, unless you have a special firmware upgrade that isn't out in the...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I've tested software for way longer than that, and in fact did some as a paid tester. So I'm well aware of the issues involved. Lag for me isn't an issue as I would expect that if for nothing else, the debug code in test software. The battery issue is different imo. If it was just poor...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

While it might actually happen, the simplest way is to just leave the current w8.1 OneDrive app as it is and let the OneDrive folder be the new way. Simple and easy.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I'm sorry but the more I look at W10 at this stage of the game on the Surface Pro 3, the less I think of it. Overall twitchiness, poor handling of OneDrive, eating batter life like there's no tomorrow just aren't signs of an OS, even a 'preview' that is anywhere close to being ready for the...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Yep, they've done something screwey with power management with this build. And how it works and runs really depends on the machine. On my SP3 build 10130 is twitchy in lots of little irritating ways. On my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro it is much less twitchy and more solid. I have to scratch my head...

Solved Outlook 16 beta on Surface Pro 3

Turned out it was a user error. I had completely forgotten that Apple uses a 'generated' password for mail when you use 3rd party mail clients. Oddly I could use the real password with previous versions of Outlook.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I noticed that on my SP3 too. Even while supposedly 'sleeping' it still drains the battery. Under use, 10130 drains the battery pretty quickly.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Arghhh!!!! I feel like a real dummy!! I KNEW that the new mail would need an app specific password, but I just blanked and kept going around in circles! :( Mail and iCloud are now getting along just fine. For DropBox, the only fix was to turn off notifications which I don't care for, but it...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I put 10130 on the SP3 last night and got all the updates. Some things are really hinky still. 1. Getting to the PC Settings with a swipe oft times doesn't work. No rhyme or reason for it that I can see. 2. DropBox keeps notifying incessantly that it has updated 2 files. Haven't figured a...

IE vs Chrome: which is better?

But does Spartan do plugins like LastPass yet? That's one of the reasons I use Chrome.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

It isn't that OneDrive doesn't work, it does and quite well as you notice. It is the way that it is presented in W10. Only those files that are synced and available locally as well as at OneDrive show up in the OneDrive folder. And no OneDrive app that made getting/opening a file so easy. In...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

We have differing opinions of how well W10 and touch on small screens works. I can live with that. I'll stick with W8.1 for the time being as it fits me well. And yes, beta testing does have its issues, but this late in the cycle it should be a bit better imo. Unfortunately MS has been...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

The touch issues I have with W10 is mostly on the smaller screens. Small icons make for fat fingering too much with one tap! From my perspective W10 is going to be most beneficial to desktop/non-touch users, the very users that had so many issues with W8/8.1 I use the Surface Pro and Yoga 2...
