When this happened to me the CPU never got too high to shutdown. I have the same model SP3 as you do.

For me, this is not an every day issue - more like 1 a week or more. I don't know when it will happen again because when it happened last, I just let it finish and it hasn't happened since. Perhaps the legendary Core M chips will resolve the issue?

Just leave the system alone until it stops. Worked for me.

I wouldn't say registry cleaning is a joke. Netgate cleaned my registry a bunch, Ran it again and 2 items were remaining. Now it gets no errors. Some of the errors I saw before letting it do it's thing was extensions which were no longer being used, shortcuts, etc.

The same thing happens to me. Something is going on in the background. What? I don't know - I can't see the process that's taking up the CPU usage because it drops back down to 0. I mentioned this issue in another thread. Whatever the SP3 is doing, let it finish and it won't happen for the rest...

For registry cleaning, I got Netgate today. My SP3 seems to be zipping along since!

My previous post says that it goes above 978 consistently. If you downloaded a profile that has the gfx multiplier set or limited that's the reason why. heck your Processor Graphics Ratio Limit...

OK so running Premiere with OpenCL rendering got my GPU freq. cconsistently above 948. I had my gfx freq limited using a profile somebody else posted. My i7 is fine :)

My i7 gets over 599 also. The max frequency is 5000 according to XTU. I've seen my frequency get past 1200. Doesn't explain why a stress test doesn't max the frequency like the cpu test does. My thoughts: the cpu gets preferential treatment over the gpu since they are the same chip (?).

Every screenshot has one thing in common: Graphics Frequency 599 MHz...
