Stranger still, I used the W8 app Network Speed Test and got 5.3Mb/s but then used speedtest.net via IE and got 14.3Mb/s. Both had the same ping of 42 ms and upload. Bizarre.

Yes, I pay for 16Mb/s (no cable available where I live). But you're right, in that my SP isn't d/l at max speed, with my Lumina being quicker. Not sure why though.

Interestingly enough, my SP posts download speeds 50% slower than my WP8 Lumia 820. Upload speeds are the same. OK, accepting I don't have cable or speeds close to what you guys seem to be posting but I'm supposed to get 16Mb/s down, my Lumia gets 11 and SP shows 5Mb/s

I'd buy it wherever you want/ can. I live in the UK and bought one from the US (before they were available in UK). Had a warranty issue, by which time they were available in UK, and just returned it locally without any issue from MS.

Ah, see your problem. if it's a pre-existing @live/outlook address then no, you can't use it. I created new aliases, which I use as email addresses. the beauty of this is I can delete and create new ones if and when the spamming gets too great, thus protecting my main email address.

I've read this in haste and may have got it wrong but I had a similar setup. I have set up one primary outlook address, under which I have created aliases, from which I can send and receive emails. I then set up filter rules such that emails are filtered into the appropriate mailbox as required...

Ha, I first pressed Windows + volume up and ended up having my SP talking to me (Narrator). Weird, never come across that before. Turned it off smartish too.
