Samsung u28d590d occasionally flickers when connected to my Surface Pro 3

I have seen this happen on my 2 monitors (2x Lenovo 2934z in 2560x1080) whenever the Apple iTunes services drive up CPU usage up to approx. 35%. That is where the CPU temperature also starts to rise to the 80 degrees Celsius zone+ and the displays occasionally start to blank out. Not entirely...

    Docking Station

Also be aware that the databus that is used to connect the SP3 and the Docking station might be USB 3.0 even though the connector on the side is proprietary. Which would mean that all USB and Ethernet transfers over the Docking Station do have a CPU impact. This has never been confirmed nor...

    Improving SSD performance

    Improving SSD performance

Most laptop manufacturers are mixing a number of OEM SSD brands for reasons of production continuity, and when they (if at all) decide to upgrade the firmware of any of those SSDs, they have processes in place that prevent you from flashing the wrong firmware :-)

    i7/512GB order it or not?

I's take this article with a grain of salt though as it makes no reference to so-called throttling behaviour of CPU's. In the SP3's you see that depending on the heat that is generated, the CPUs tend to start throttling down their operating frequencies as prevention measure against overheating...

    new intel driver

Interesting. I also received 3977 yesterday. That seems even newer than either Intel or Station-Drivers have on their websites ... They are still at 3960. It might be that only those who already went from an MS specific driver to the Intel Retail driver will get this update. Not sure though.

high-IQ professionals Scorpion with Surface Pro 3

I fact, for my holidays I usually load up my (then current) laptop with kids movies and by using Windows Media Center (MCE) and an USB infrared adapter, my kids are perfectly capable of using the remote to navigate MCE and watch movies themselves. Last week, my SP3 served the same purpose...
