I am not opposed to having both; but excluding that possibility for whatever reason (cost, engineering, design limitations etc.), I would prefer the newer technology, and of course the capacity to always be prepared.:)

You did not initially introduce yourself in this capacity. FWIW a couple of colleagues of mine did not experience any lockups going to this site using any of the Surface models you mentioned.

Reread your original post You did not indicate that you also have experienced this . Since they are the regular users, it is not useful or efficient to go through a proxy, if forum members have questions to ask. Did they not find it important enough to initiate the thread?

I am not sure that the purchase of an adapter @ £10, for a product of this initial cost bracket would be a sufficient deterent . If Microsoft felt it would be, they could include it. You could still then use your legacy hub when you needed to connect more than one device.

When you have completed the above suggestions, and you are ready to get your updates, make sure your SP3 is fully charged, and plug in connected. I would put your SP3, at least initially, to manual update, where you decide when to download and install the updates. Be patient with this process as...

Perhaps reverting back to a restore point, when this was not a problem, might provide a clue as to what "broke" it.

That's great. I assume you dont have to return the original. If that is the case, you can refurb it as described in earlier posts and use it, if necessary, as a spare.
