I am thinking about ditching my iPad Mini and getting the Venue Pro 8. If I install some of the same apps, such as games and emulators, will Skydrive automatically sync the data and gamesaves between the Venue Pro 8 and my Surface Pro 2, or is this going to be a manual syncing headache?

The apps will sync if your sync settings allow it. I believe by default they will, since I manually disabled sync for everything except the backup.
