Your SP3 Cortana Experience

For those in a region where Cortana is available on the new Windows 10 Technical preview, I'm curious what your experience is thus far.

In my case, it's been less than enthusiastic. It seems that she has a difficult time hearing me as there is rarely a response. Even when I click on the microphone vs. saying, "Hey Cortana" I rarely get a response.

Could this be a microphone issue or is the feature that raw at this point? I do fee like the mic input is a little weak.

Thanks for your input!

Yes, I thought Cortana was not as responsive as could be. I wanted to be able to say, "Hey, Cortana" while ambient noise includes a nearby TV, or other people, or other typical background noise.

Much improved after making a (built-in) microphone change as shown in theses screenshots. An option is also available to reduce background noise, but I did not choose that.

Hey...appreciate this reply. The settings changes to the mic actually helped quite a bit!

Thanks again!

So far, the only thing I can get out of her is a weather report. Anything else just brings up a bing search

Not asking Cortana many questions. She does not want to launch apps or programs, change settings, or even tell me what's on my calendar.

She has a cheery voice, though, so every time I want to fire her, I reconsider.

Any clips showing Cortana working well are FAKED.

At this point it is < worthless >.
Remains to be seen whether or not they will ever make it actually work.
But, considering how poorly programs like Dragon Naturally Speaking are, I doubt it.

I've had the same experience running W10 in a VM on my desktop. At first I thought it was my microphone or something, but apparently she's just not ready for prime time yet.:(
