xbox one controller not working

I seem to have an issue with the controller on this surface as opposed to the one I exchanged it out for. The Xbox One controller used to just work once I connect it to the Pro 3, but now when I do it shows as missing drivers from device manager. I tried the new drivers for the controller from microsoft but when trying to install the drivers it gives me a premature error and won't install. Any of you use xbox 360 or one controller and have a solution to this?

What error are you getting? A lot or people have been getting error 37 it seems, or premature ending of the install. The major nelson comment section has a few suggestions to help.

I am getting the premature ending of the install, I looked at Major Nelson's thread, I'll look again but I couldn't find anything of use yesterday night.

I looked at Major Nelson's thread and all the comments on there, unfortunately none of it helped resolve my issue, if anyone knows the fix please assist.
