Fans of the movie Minority Report, or the more recent Iron Man movies, were likely enamored by one particular feasible piece of future tech shown off in those films. That is the hand-gesture based operating systems. While the Xbox One is doing a god job of evolving us toward that eventuality, there is still quite a bit of work to be done before it is as seamless as depicted in those movies.

Luckily, Microsoft is working hard to accelerate that development, and the most recent intel suggests that the next evolution of that might be showing up in Windows 10. Here's a quote with more of the details,

A large number of new APIs have been added, including numerous phone ones, but of particular interest is a whole new class called Windows.Human.

This seems to be dealing with new user interfaces using voice, gestures, poses and even face tracking.

It appears, from looking at the APIs, that users will be able to zoom and scroll using hand gestures, without touching the screen.

Windows 10 will also recognize and track your face and facial expressions, opening up the possibility of deleting an email with a raised eye brow.

Also new is support for a Stereo Head Mounted Display, which should open up plug and play support for devices like the Oculus Rift and on Windows Phone possible a version of Google Cardboard.

Interesting... this means Microsoft is working on a Minority Report style gesture interface at the same time they are working on a Star Trek style voice activated AI interface, and at the same time they are working on a Johnny Mnemonic style VR-headset interface.

It looks like Microsoft is making sure they don't make the same mistake they did with mobile technology and plan on staying on the cutting edge of everything from now on. Very cool!
