I disagree a little. Yes chips are designed to be 'able' to run that hot but there is a reason that air and the water cooling in laptops and desktop PCs respectively has been standard for so long. I have a I5-3570k and if that ever hit 80degrees under load I'd be a tad worried.

Plus Haswell is designed to be more energy efficient due to lower voltage so this temperature is doubly worrying.
There's a huge difference in temps from the desktop world and the laptop world (what we are dealing with here). Smaller, tighter packages obviously produce significantly more heat. The devices are designed this way, as no one wants to hook up a garden hose to their laptop or tablet for water cooling :p, nor do they want to have a chassis 3X as thick with extra fans.

I built desktops exclusively for years, and mobile temps are simply not comparable in this regard; with mobile products such as the SP2 and laptops in general, temps are designed to run much hotter.

For example, my GT60 "gaming" laptop with the latest 780m GPU is designed by MSI to run the GPU & CPU well into 90's C. While that's a bit hotter than I like so I therefore force fans to run early to keep temps in the 70-80's C, the temps the SP2 encounters are nothing to be concerned about and are totally in line and actually a bit cooler than other comparable CPU's in full blown laptops. I'm quite frankly as a dedicated mobile gamer impressed with it only running at 80C.

To change the graphics settings, use the following:

Follow this path – User[your user name as it appears on your computer]/My Documents/My Games/Unreal Engine 3/Monkey Game/ Config/Monkey Engine.

Open the Monkey Engine file with Notepad then scroll down about two thirds to get to the System Settings.

Now change the following:

Would be nice if you guys included some important information at the beginning of the video like what is the FPS like, if there are any FPS spikes and if so, how often, what the FPS is like on the lowest settings, etc.

Im curious, What kind of portable external hard drive and usb hub is everyone using? or more so those with a lot of games or ones from steam. im assuming people bought usb 3.0 variants.

I just bought a Toshiba Canvio 1.5Tb usb 3.0 portable harddrive. it was on sale at radioshack for only $59.00. im freeing up space now in my internal storage and moving those steam games that was in there into the portable harddrive. radio shack didn't have any usb 3.0 hubs. seems like most places don't except online. I need to check best buy. if they don't have one then ill have order from Amazon.

This portable hard drive has sort of alleviated my want for a ps4.lol. now I can get more steam games and not have to worry about internal storage space. which also means I can install some of the larger games I originally avoided. I might keep a few of my best ones installed on internal storage. I need a hub asap so I can have my xbox 360 controller plugged in also.

anyone know a good app to check my data transfer speeds on my portable hardrive. I want to make sure its getting the fastest speeds when installing. aside from wifi speeds during download.

Hello Demandarin, excelent buy, now you will have enough capacity for installing games,to use a HDD USB 3.0 and xbox controller USB you need to purchase a USB 3.0 hub: (There are good prices on amazon or ebay)

Link -> Hub USB 3.0 (no external power)

I buy this -> Hub USB 3.0 (no external power)

The most importantly you do not need external power ;)

With this program you can test the hard drive -> Cristal Disk Mark

Sorry for my english

I'm curious if a no external power hub is really desirable here? The Surface is a USB 3.0 device, as such it's USB power output is limited. By going with a "self powered" hub which actually means Surface powered, you are subtracting from the power of the Surface USB port the power required to run the hub. You start plugging other devices in, and it becomes real easy to not supply sufficient power to the hard drive, IMHO that is asking for a corrupt drive down the line...

hmmm..not you got me thinking..lol the portable drive I have is a usb 3.0/2.0 the real question would be does it truly require all that power for the drive itself. im currently using a targus 4 port usb 2.0 hub with my controller and portable hard drive attached. its working fine just off the pro port. I did order me an anker usb 3 hub, non powered. should arrive next week.

it better not corrupt my drive..haha but I do have accidental coverage so anything happens, itll get replaced no cost or questions,

for people with surface pro 2 , you can run the new Street fighter at higher settings. I have a Pro 1 and running street fighter at full 1080p resolution. I have models and stage set to medium. then I cut motion blur off and shadows on low. game plays great. no slowdown at all. so if I can run full 1080p on my pro 1 for this game, I know you all can with pro 2. Game looks and plays fantastic on my pro.

I do have the latest intel generic driver installed though.

The corruption would not be a hardware issue or cause damage to the drive itself so warranty is not the issue here, the potential corruption would be of the data stored on the drive likely during write cycles, just have to clean the drive and replace the data/partition if it happens. Doubt you will have issues however if you only have one external HDD attached and nothing else power hungry.
