Surface Lap Top Hard Drive Recovery

Hi I am looking for help. My surface laptop 2018 has a major fault. It is powered up but the screen is black now. I would like to recover the hard drive contents. Does anyone have a suggestion. Is there a recovery process ? If required can the HD be removed and the contents recovered. I believe the drive is soldered in but could be wrong. Thank you in advance.

If your device is a Surface Laptop 2, I recommend getting a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. Connect the adapter to an external display or TV using an HDMI cable to verify if a video signal is present.
