Surface 2, black screen

My huband was watching a film via a usb stick (whilst in hospital), he had to put the Surface 2 on pause, he went back to continue watching his film but the Surface 2 would not switch on and the screen remained black. When he tried switching on two days later the screen is still black but the tablet is trying to boot itself. Any one encountered this problem ? Any help would be appreciated, Thank you

Hold the Volume Rocker Up for 10 seconds release
Hold the Power Button down for 10 Seconds release
Wait 10 seconds
Hold Volume Rocker Up press Power Button

Should boot back, if it dumps you into the UEFI Menu just exit making no changes and it then reboot....
