I am having the above issues with my SP3, even after performing the two-button shutdown and installing the Day 1 Firmware and other updates. Anyone resolved this problem? Tried resetting to factory startup - same result. Thanks!
So if you unplug it, does it shut down immediately?
If so, it's definitely defective. Not a big deal, these things happen. I'd return it immediately and get a replacement.
I had the same issue. What I found worked was going into Device Manager , expanded the firmware tab and uninstalling any bang symbols. that I saw. Also make sure you have the box selected that deletes all drivers... I also uninstalled the ACPI controller under the Battery tab. I then scanned for hardware changes and restarted the computer. My battery is finally charging as it normally would...no more red X.
Hope this helps for anyone else experiencing this annoying issue.
