Rupture on the upper edge

Hello guys!

Today I took SP3 out of my backpack at the beggining of some class and all of the sudden I saw this:

I've no idea how it could have happened. I keep my Surface in a cover and carry in a special part of my bag intended for laptops. What could be the reason of this rupture?

Will the crack spread? TBH it seems to be really small.
I thought that the magnesium body will be more solid.

May be the case can be easily bended.

I don't think it will spread. Sorry about that crack. Could be a manufacturing problem with the extruded metal.

Well, it's a plastic. The only plastic part of the casing xD

A skin from Stickerboy.net or DecalGirl will keep that out of sight, and keep moisture out, if it bothers you. The skin might even add a little strength.

same problem. happened to me as well, in a case, in a good, padded messenger bag.

Seems to be plastic, probably for the antennas. Maybe the plastic is snapped in too stressed or something.
