Problems after removing Type Cover Keyboard

I've had this problem with the first Surface Pro, but it was solved with an update. I'm a little surprised this is happening with the SP3.

When removing the type cover after using it in the Modern UI, when I go into another Modern app and want to type something, the touch keyboard does not automatically pop up. If I reboot the SP3 then it works fine. But I shouldn't have to do that.

Any suggestions???

In desktop go to taskbar on bottom of screen.
Long press on it to pull up menu
Select Toolbars to open
Select Touch keyboard
Reboot

You will now have an alternate way of pulling up your onscreen keyboard.
You will also have a choice of keyboards.
