The other day I noticed my battery seemed to be draining rather quickly, a quick check around revealed OneNote was having trouble synchronizing to OneDrive... problem resolved.
This gave me an idea. The Surface [next] should have a Power Meter mounted in the bezel so you can actively see your power usage. A simple bar graph display similar to a speedometer. There should also be a Power Dashboard App which quickly lets you see the Top Power users at the moment or over time, and drill downs to see the power usage of each App, device/sensor, and service.
This might also lead to some competition amongst developers to be efficient rather than Power Hogs (Google) since they would be easily measured against each other and prominently displayed. Nothing like a bit of transparency to shame vendors to clean up their act.
