I am new to the forum, and new to Windows 8 and surface pro.
I was wondering how one would be able to install older windows software that are on discs into surface pro, and if it is even possible?
Welcome to the forum. If you have a usb optical drive (or you can get one pretty cheaply) you can simply connect it via usb and install just as if the optical drive was part of the device. If you don't want to get a drive you can use a device that has one and transfer the disk to a usb stick and then install from that. You can also search the internet and see if a web based installation is available for the software.
I just put the disk in my DVD burner in my desktop and use Explorer and navigate to the wireless network and then to the DVD burner and run the installation program on the DVD in my desktop.
