What's new

NAS -> Modern App Control -> DLNA -> XBox One

Hey folks! Looking for help finding an elegant, easy to set up and easy to use hardware + software solution.

Start with media on a NAS; all Blu-Ray rips:
- DD 5.1 or DTS audio.
- I started with .mov then moved to .mkv so streaming those two formats is a must.
- Currently this stuff is on a RAID attached to a Mac Mini, but I'm guessing I'll have to move it to an actual NAS on my router to get this to work?

I am looking for a simple metro/modern app to browse the video files, and then stream them over DLNA to my XBox One. The stream's audio needs to be DD 5.1 / DTS and the video optimally not reencoded during the stream to retain video quality.

Does anybody have suggestions for the NAS hardware for optimal compatibility with a DLNA setup?
How about suggestions for the app to browse and stream the files?

Seems like windows 8.1 doesn't play that nicely with NASs so I'm trying to do as much research as possible.

Thanks y'all!
