Getting MS win8 key from surface pro

Hey everyone,

I have a question. Can I recorver the key to win 8.1 from my surface pro and instal a new win 8.1 on my laptop with the same key?

If your laptop has Windows 8 on it you wouldn't need your Pro key. If you're attempting to do a fresh install on your Laptop you'll need to but Windows 8.1 to get the key.

Short answer: No.

Longer answer. Still No. Assuming MS treat the installation of Windows on their own hardware as other laptop/tablet manufacturers do, then the key is tied to that machine and only that machine.
