Worked for me. And since you don't have an indicator to let you know which mode you're in, I found a good method to find out is to press the F5 key. If the Search window pops out from the right you are in the extra functions mode but if you are in the Function Number mode, nothing will happen if you are on the start screen and in on the desktop screen, the icons will blink. The F5 key happens to be the standard function key for doing a screen refresh.
