The Surface is very portable; but in the UK the thickest item in your super-slim sexy bag/cover will be the nasty over-sized UK mains plug - ruining the lines and bulging nastily.
I found this and had to share it for UK users - a folding plug with the right connector for the Surface adapter. It folds up to the same height as the Surface:
