My current Surface Type Cover died recently, so I went to Amazon, BestBuy, Microsoft, and several other online retailers to find a decently priced replacement. I either cant find a non-signature version or the reseller wants a premium for it. Am I missing something or has Microsoft already stopped making SP7 compatible Type Covers, trying to force us to buy SP8?

I think you are seeing the impact of the supply-chain issues that are impacting the Tech Sector, I do believe we see restock but it will most likely target enterprise and corporate customers.
