Does Wifi issue also applies to older wifis?

Hi,
I recently bought Surface Pro 3, and I'm happy with it.
However, a few times something happened with Wifi connection, Sometimes it disconnects and can't connect to network until reboot, and sometimes it becomes very very slow (less than 100kbps!), until a reboot.
I read some things about wifi issues, but they were 208.11ac standard. didn't they?
My router is an old 208.11g wireless router, and I don't have these problems with my phone and PC.
Any ideas?

The Wifi issues are not limited to 208.11 ac.

Outdated routers and interference may be causing issues with your Wi-Fi connectivity and slowing down your internet speeds. A slow Internet connection can be very frustrating.
