So I just tried installing via usb the latest 8.1 update 1 iso. Strangely was a bit iffy first time, so just wiped it out and tried again. All drivers sorted out via windows update and it feels like my sp2 is behaving better then ever. Certainly i have had to put up with strange power on and off problems these past 12 months and it looks like they may have gone good news!
