Being new to the SP3 world I cannot factually speak to any USB charging issues. However because of a wall chord to transformer/brick issue I have learned that it appears since the first Surface anything hit the market there have been many variations of the charging device. One would think as mundane as a charging device is there wouldn't be a problem of having two or three vendors producing chargers to a uniform design specification. From what I can surmise there are at least a dozen makers of power supplies producing such for the Surface Pro 3. I also suspect there is more than one of those manufacturers of power supplies for the Surface Pro 3 that has a color changing indicator light on the connector and probably at least one that produces a charger that has no USB port issues.
