Solved Win 10 activation problem dock/no dock

Wow, maybe that explains my problem. I did the proper upgrade from Win8.1 to Windows 10. It activated fine and I ran that way for a few weeks. I never liked how the upgrade left remnants of files/directories and how it created a mess with the partitions. Thus, I decided to do a clean install...

    Virtual Machine on Win10

If I remember right, in the preview versions of Windows 10 there was a problem when having Virtual Machines installed on your system that would keep the Surface Pro from going into sleep (or hibernation??) Has this been fixed with the RTM release....is it okay to install virtual machines...

    Docking station with Win10

Are any of you having problems with the docking station since upgrading to the RTM version of Win10? Specifically, when I pop my SP3 unit in, it will not activate the monitor. I have to slide the handles in and out several times before it "finds" the monitor. I have never had this problem...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

As I mentally prepare for how I want to get my SP3 going with the RTM, I thought I would ask some advice. Over the past year or so my SP3 has ended up with many partitions...several small ones, 2 bigger ones for OS and data, restore volumes, etc. With the RTM ISO can I just reformat the entire...

    Office Upload Center

Seems I have found the solution. I disabled Office Upload Center and then Onedrive synced fine. Honestly I do not see the use of the Upload Center when you have Onedrive....if fact, every experience I have with it seems to indicate that it just causes problems. Disable Microsoft Office Upload...

    Office Upload Center

I just did a fresh install of Win 10 on my SP3. All went fairly smoothly, however, Onedrive has a lot of file conflicts that are a pain to manually sort out. I noticed that all of the conflicts are only with Office files...specifically ppt. This got me thinking about Office Upload Center...

    Dual boot Win 10

I want to install Win 10 on a separate partition and dual boot. I have a guide on how to do this. Once I get Win 10 working the way I like and other apps installed, then I would like to remove Win 8,1 and recover that space. How can I remove this? If I just delete that partition and add the...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Sharpcolorado, thanks for the pointer to the hovering of the mouse option, however, I believe the behavior of Win10 is still different....and improved. The problem with checking this option is that if you move your mouse overtop of a window that is maximized in the background (but you have...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Windows 10 appears to have another new feature that I have never noticed on previous versions. If, for example, you have two windows open and one window is active, you can move the mouse over the second window and the wheel of the mouse will allow you to scroll the second window without...

    Solved Windows 10 and VPN

RESOLVED The following has resolved all of my issues with the 3 different VPNs. 1. Hit the start button and type "services.msc' 2. Locate and stop Cisco Systems, Inc. VPN Service; 3. Stop and disable Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) Service; 4. Restart Cisco System, Inc. VPN Service. This...

    Solved Windows 10 and VPN

Sharpcolorado, thank you for your reply. I downloaded and installed VPN Client Version 5.0.07.0440 with no problems. However, it still gives the same error on the Win10 machine. It gives: Reason 442: Failed to enable virtual adapter. Searches for this error indicate to rename an entry in...

    Solved Windows 10 and VPN

RESOLVED (see post #4) Sorry for starting a new thread but the other Win10 thread is getting so long and this is such a specific question. After reading from several of you trailblazers that there was some problems with Cisco VPN, I decided to install Win 10 on my non-SP3 laptop. It is great...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Thanks for the confirmation....but that really sucks. Many here were expecting this to be fixed in the next Windows release....although I do realize there is still plenty of time and this is a very early version. For me this is one of the most annoying thing about the SP3. In fact, I find...

    Genymotion and bluetooth

Thanks for the reply. Yes you are right, however I find the ANT+ to be very finicky and prefer not to use it....plus it then takes up the USB port. Was hoping that the bluetooth would be an option. The real solution is for Garmin to release a Windows Phone 8 version!

    Genymotion and bluetooth

I am not very familiar with how Genymotion will work with the SP3 hardware. I have WP8 and do not have any Android devices. I am a runner and have the Garmin Vivofit and 610 running watch. Both of these devices have nice Android (and iOS) software to sync the devices through bluetooth, but no...

External Monitor - Changing Size of All Items CONSTANTLY?

sdgmcdon, I had the same issue as you. I have not completely resolved it but did find something that made it much more tolerable. From your post I believe you are going into "Screen resolution" clicking on "Make text and other items larger or smaller", and then selecting Smaller (100%) or...

    Strange ink spiking

Thanks jnjroach. I will try replacing the battery but doubt that is it. However the poorly grounded main could easily be the problem. I was plugged into a plug built into a conference room table at a company here in China. If this was the problem then I assume it would stop if I unplugged...

    Strange ink spiking

Yes it was plugged in when this occurred. I have a spare pen that I will keep with me for a few days. If the problem reoccurs, then I can test if it will continue to have the same problem with a different pen. Love the SP3....hopefully some of these small problems get corrected quickly.
