Are you a righty or lefty? If you are writing with your left hand, try launching the Pen setting app and changing what hand you use.

That was actually my point... I don't think any of the applications I normally use would benefit from it. I was looking to verify that it was using the internal GPU since I would prefer to prioritize battery life over performance.

I just spent a few minutes staring at and caressing the back of mine and couldn't find a bulge. I do feel a bit creepy and I'm glad my wife didn't notice. ;)

Answering my own question after some additional Googling... It appears you can tell if the Nvidia GPU is being used by checking the "Surface Detach" icon in the System Tray. If it has a circle with a lightning bolt through it and says "Action Required" in the hover tip, the Nvida GPU is being used.

Thanks, it sounds like I shouldn't need to worry about the battery in either case. Just curious, have you changed any of the settings in the Nvidia Control Panel? Wondering if I should let the SB choose the graphics card or if I am better either defaulting to one or doing the app by app settings.

I've managed to make it worse somehow. Now my SP3 reboots when I come out of sleep... I might have a full system reset coming in my near future.

Switching to a Mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to see if it makes a difference. I didn't think I would be able to get the full resolution from this configuration but it works fine. I'll report back after I've used it for a day or so.

I don't think I'll put one on my SP3 but I've become a believer in the glass ones for my phone. With a daughter plays travel softball I spend a lot of time at the ballpark and the dust from there is something that can scratch gorilla glass in my experience.
