Media Player App for flac and mkv

I used the free program hand brake to convert .mkv files and ISO image files to .mp4 or .m4a files. I did this on my laptop. Then I put the new files onto the surface. The default video app plays .mp4 & .m4a files. This works for now until there is a video app that plays more formats.

    Micro SD Support on RT???

Ok, I got the SD Card to mount as others have mentioned. It did work, but there is a bug in the Video Player App on how it reads from the Video Library. Here are the steps I used to mount the SD Card: 1. On the SD card create a folder called "Program Files" (D:\Program Files) 2. Create a...

    How do your speakers sound?

If your volume slider is at 100% and you touch the white square at the top of the bar, you can slide it down to any level. If you touch the bottom of the blue vertical bar, then it jumps to 0%. If you touch in between, it will jump to that level. You are probably just touching to low to the...

Is there a low battery notification?

I have had my surface power down twice because I have completely drained the battery. I don't get any notification about the battery getting low before it turns off. I know there is the battery icon and in the desktop, putting the cursor over the icon will show the percentage remaining, but is...

    Lock Screen to Start Screen

The lock screen & Account picture in PC Settings have a "browse" button. The Start Screen doesn't, so I agree, there doesn't seem to be a way. If you can find where the start screen pictures are stored in Windows, then maybe you could add or substitute in your new picture and get it to work.

    Micro SD Support on RT???

Thanks for that info, I tried adding a SD folder to the video library and I got a message, "This folder cannot be included because it is on a removable device" I'm going to try "mounting the SD card as a local folder" and see what happens after I figure out how to do that. I did find that the...

    Surface RT wifi connection issue

I have used my Surface with about 5 different Wi-Fi spots. I have noticed the following issue: When connecting to the Wi-Fi, even one I used before with no problem, I get "limited connectivity". After troubleshooitng the Wi-Fi and the Surface, I have found it to be a Surface problem. If I...

    How do your speakers sound?

I found that the volume has to be at 100% to hear a video even when I am in a quiet environment. I think external speakers or headphones will be necesary to really enjoy watching movies on the Surface. I hope future models will come with louder speakers.

    Micro SD Support on RT???

Here's a summary of what I know about the SD card slot on the Surface: - It is a micro SDXC slot. The size of the card has to be microSD, not regular on miniSD. - SDXC cards support up to 2TB. (yes, terrabytes!). Right now 32GB & 64GB are easy to find. 128GB and 256 GB are available. They...
