Hi everyone. My Surface Laptop 2 doesn't seem to fully close anymore. There's always a slight gap of about an inch or so when it's sitting flat. Sometimes even enough that it wakes from sleep. I don't see any physical obstruction. I don't use any kind of accessories like a screen or keyboard...

This is a well known issue which the Surface Laptop 2 is also known to suffer from. A firmware update sent out to members of the Windows Insider Program recently seems to fix the problem. Presumably it's only a matter of time before it is released to everyone.

Were you experiencing power loss during sleep/standby or when your device was completely powered off? People see to be getting these two issues confused. The latter has nothing to do with connected standby because whether that feature is active or not the device can't be connected to anything...

I thought of that as well. It appears to take about the expected time to charge to 100%. I still think it's likely that the software is not accurately detecting the charge. I don't see how it's physically possible for the battery to lose 25% of its charge while shutdown for even just 10 minutes...

The original issue seems to have gotten a bit confused over the course of this thread. It’s not about power loss during sleep/standby mode, it’s apparent power loss when the device is fully shut down.

Some research suggested that the problem might be with Window's "Fast Startup" feature. I tried deactivating this feature, but still lost 8% overnight. This is unacceptable for a supposedly premium device.

I'm curious why I just got the October update on my Surface Laptop 2 (purchased in February). Shouldn't it have shipped with this update? Isn't a May update due out this month? How can I ensure that my PC gets updates in a timely manner?

I just got a Black Surface Laptop 2 as well. My very first Surface product. I'm really liking it so far!
