That is my thinking. No I didn't really see the cracks until my thumb felt something then I got the clipboard in an angle that allowed me to see the cracks.

I discovered late yesterday that the screen has two cracks. Do you think this could be the root cause??

I separated the keyboard from the monitor (Clipboard) with no change. I have attached a picture that always comes up from power on.

What do I gain by ejecting the monitor from the keyboard, as there is no USB port on the monitor??

@Plantje, (LOL) I should have read closer. My device is a Surface Book 2. I discovered that I could turn the Surface Book off via the button on top, I just have to hold it down long enough. @sharpuser - So most likely the problem is in the keyboard?? I don't see obvious signs of water damage...

@Plantje - I am unable to separate the two. The LED lights, but there is no click. When trying to separate by pulling, LED is on. @ sharpuser - Holding the power button down does not work, and the monitor stays on till the battery is empty.
