Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

I can't even find it on Ebay anymore. But it's a 3rd party. I bought it for less than $40. No eraser on top. Just the two buttons on the sides.

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

I should follow up by saying that it's Day 3 and the 3rd party pen still works like a charm. I've even brought it to a customer meeting and used it without issues. So the two Microsoft Surface Pen are not working, while my $40 3rd party pens works.

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

Not sure I understand. What do you mean by "Writing with your finger work perfectly?". I don't write with my fingers. Sure the screen responds to the touch, but I can't write on OneNote or any other note taking apps using my fingers. As for the failure of the pens, I can understand if one Pen...

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

When it works, all I do is write with it. But if it's DOA, like it is right now, you can't do nothing with it. It won't close apps. It's pretty much non responsive with the screen. The only thing that works is by tapping on the eraser, it does open an app.

....then of course, I closed the lid as I went to a meeting. Came back 20 minutes later, opened the lid, and the pen doesn't write again..... This is what I mean by 'Unreliable'.

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

Nope. It didn't work. But here's what did work. After doing the instructions above. I removed batteries from both pens (both old with two buttons and new with one button). I removed the Surface pen from set up. Then paired the old pen. I got it to connect, but the old pen won't write. But the...

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

I understand this is not Microsoft Support. You ask. I will answer. To be honest, since I've had the 'new' pen, it has never worked 100%. There are days where it works. Then a few days later it doesn't. So that's why I said it's not 100% reliable. One day I took it to a meeting with a client...

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

Yes. I understand. I also should point out that both are technically OEM pens. Microsoft told me that the old pen I had has two buttons. The new one has one button. So I bought it. So right now, I've disable the old pen. The new pen is the only one I have and that's the one connected/paired...

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

I should add that the pen seems to be working. If I press the 'eraser', my sticky note appears on screen. But it still won't write.

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

Well I removed the battery from the 3rd party pen and so it's disabled. I repaired the OEM pen, restarted the laptop, and it seems to work. But then this morning, bring back the laptop from sleep, it doesn't work. I still see it paired. I unpaired it and paired it again. Nothing. This is what I...

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

Sorry. OS Build 18362.476. Does the fact that I have a 2nd Pen have anything to do with it? Like I said, I have an OEM pen with the long button. But I bought a 2nd 3rd party pen with two buttons. I tried pairing both. Both connected successfully. But neither writes either.

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

Well fixed the power issue. None of the tips online worked, including pressing various buttons at the same time. The trick was to pull out all USB dongles and SD Cards. Once I did that, she powered up. But pen still doesn't work. I have both the OEM pen and a 3rd party pen. They both are...

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

Great. Now the thing won't turn on. I let the battery go down to 5% before I left work. Then overnight, it must have drained down. This morning, with it plugged in, I press on Power and nothings shows up. Any fix here?

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

RunningWindows 10 Pro. Tips has always been in. There's no movement in it when I try pulling on it. It's fully seated. So I just tried it, Made a line. Whoooppeee...seems to work. Then I detached the screen and tried it again. It was fluttering. Like running out of ink. Then it stopped...

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

I have had my SB2 now for over a year. 95% of the time, it's a notebook. But for the other 5%, I use it as a note taker. So I use my pen quite a bit. The pen is so unreliable. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it won't. This morning, it worked. Then I detached the screen and started to write some...

    Surface Book 2 Pen issue

The battery level use to be in there because I remember seeing it. But it's no longer there since I've done updates. When you click on BT and other devices, all it shows are the devices paired to it. In my case, it's 2.4g keyboard mouse, SD card, and Surface Pen. No battery indicator.

    Surface Book 2 Pen issue

Updtate: 4/26/19 Well I got the newer pen (the one with no clip and one long oval button). It worked for a while. THen today, I brought it out and it doesn't work again. It may be the battery. I wished there was a battery indicator somewhere. What I'm finding is that I can't depend on this...
