The smudges on my Surface Pro 4 is similar but more extensive and in a different place. I suspect that it due to heat from behind.

I notice the same problem in the bottom of my SP4 screen. It is always there and no related to screen pressure stress. About 1" wide and 2" from the right edge. It is faint right now but more noticeable with a black background. Looks like internal defects in the LCD. Not worth the trouble to...
