Black Screen and Won't Wake - KB Hot Fix posted

I had RROD problems with two of my Xbox 360s as well. However, Microsoft repaired both of them, at their expense, even though one of them was well out of warranty. On the other hand, the blue-ray drive on my PS3, which was working fine, suddenly stopped working immediately after a firmware...

Black Screen and Won't Wake - KB Hot Fix posted

Calm down, I meant no offense. I just get tired of snide remarks about Microsoft products being inherently inferior, as if other vendors don't have issues. I totally agree with you that the experience with SB and SP4 has been (so far) sub-par. My speculation (and hope) is that it's not...

Black Screen and Won't Wake - KB Hot Fix posted

Yes, it's very true that you only hear from people that are having problems. My Zenbook is not Skylake, nor is my wife's Zenbook, so maybe that's why we're not having issues.

Black Screen and Won't Wake - KB Hot Fix posted

I've been using Windows 10 on my Asus Zenbook for quite some time. Zero issues. Not sure what you have against Windows 10...

Black Screen and Won't Wake - KB Hot Fix posted

It's not what I personally would call "stable for a Microsoft product". Please take the Microsoft bashing somewhere else. I have a desktop running Windows 10 that has never crashed - not once. And I actually have had way more issues with my iPad than Windows products in recent years. Yes, the...

Black Screen and Won't Wake - KB Hot Fix posted

Microsoft typically releases patches on the 2nd and sometimes also 4th Tuesday of the month. I don't have any insight into what patches are in the pipeline, unfortunately. At this point, my SB is reasonably stable. I have seen only one BSOD since the latest round of updates, am occasionally...

Black Screen and Won't Wake - KB Hot Fix posted

One of my coworkers tried the steps in the KB, and although he initially did not have success with this, he was able to get it to work with a slight change to the instructions there. What he did was to delete the “device” in device manager, reboot, then in device manager point the “device” to...

    "Autorotate On" message

Thanks, this does seem to point to a software issue.

    "Autorotate On" message

No, I think you missed a point I made in my post. There *is* an effect, albeit a relatively benign one. Before it displays this message, you can rotate the SB 90 degrees and the screen orientation does not change. After the message if you do this, the screen will shift to portrait mode. So it's...

    "Autorotate On" message

Ok, thanks for confirming it's not unique to my machine. I saw one post from MS support recommending cleaning the keyboard/base contacts with isopropyl alcohol. However, I cleaned them with isopropyl, and also with some DeOxit products, but it made absolutely no difference at all.

    "Autorotate On" message

I have the SB i7/16/512. I notice periodically, seemingly at random, I get this message that says "Autorotate On" that pops up in the upper left hand corner of the display. This is occurring when docked to the keyboard. After this, I can confirm that Autorotate is indeed on, as when I rotate the...
