    I think you have the best solution, which is to ask my question to Microsoft. I know the SP3 can't, but it has a very different charging setup. Hopefully MS wil let me know quickly. EDIT: Microsoft says no, it can't. Another beautiful theory shot down by an ugly fact.

    Well, the Android version on my S3 is much friendlier than the PC version. I'll give it a longer test run before I make my decision, but as of right now it looks like I'll be removing the PC app.

    I thought any USB port allowed charging? IIRC that was one of the original purposes of the USB port's introduction: simultaneous data transfer and charging.

    I have always found the PC version of Kindle clunkier than the Android or Kindle Fire versions, so I think I'm going to try the BlueStacks method mentioned above. Thanks for the tip!

    So the conclusion as I understand it (not have read quite the entire thread) is that if we want truly fast charging on our S3 we would be better of using the USB 3.0 port rather than the Micro USB port, along with a decent charger proving at least 12 watts. Is that correct?

    Hello everyone! Just got my new Surface 3 (128GB) August 27th, and stumbled on your forum this morning. My Toshiba laptop died two weeks ago, and I'd already been looking at moving to an upsized tablet from my Nexus 7. So I decided to kill two birds with one stone, and $800+ later here I am. ;)...
