    Is it right for me?

I disagree. MS is marketing this as being both a laptop and tablet whenever you need each respective device. They are saying it can do both functions well. And I feel out of the current crop of available Windows tablets MS is the best. The design, the construction, etc. It just looks and...

    Is it right for me?

I've had my S3 since release and I've had a Samsung Galaxy Tab s 10.5 since release in June 2014. As a tablet, I feel the Samsung beats the S3 hands down. For one thing, there are many, many apps in the Play store that either aren't in the Windows store or a gimped in the Windows store. Some...

    Initial Thoughts...

After using it for a few days it isn't the Android tablet killer I was hoping for. This device is still more of a laptop than it is a tablet. It's being marketed as both but (IMO) does neither particularly well. I was focused on the tablet functionality as I really wanted to replace my Galaxy...

How do you handle going to bed to music/video on the Surface 3?

It doesn't look that app has a sleep timer. It has an alarm clock that will wake you from sleep but it doesn't look like it has anything that puts the machine in standby after a specific period of time. That's what I really need.

    Initial Thoughts...

EXACTLY! It felt great folded back yet still allowed me type sufficiently when needed. When folded back you couldn't tell it was a keyboard. With the Type Cover folded back on the S3, the keys are constantly being depressed as I move my hand around shifting the S3. If they had a Touch Cover...

    Initial Thoughts...

I wish they would make a Touch Cover for the S3. I have one from my first gen RT Surface. However, it extends a bit on the sides and some of the bezel is exposed. I'd be worried about scratching it. The screen itself isn't exposed. I would REALLY like a Touch Cover though because the amount...

Massive Battery Drain on Surface 3?

Jeff, Thanks. Fingers crossed that installing the display driver solved the issue. After being in standby for 45 minutes it only went down 1%. Device manager didn't show any issues with the display adapter but when I had it update the driver, it did install and now it says Intel HD instead...

Massive Battery Drain on Surface 3?

Jeff, No joy. I went through every folder in the Drivers\System and installed the drivers (they should have already been installed I think). Rebooted each time it asked and still the battery drain is there. People with various brands of tablets have reported the same device(s) showing in the...

Massive Battery Drain on Surface 3?

Jeff, Thanks for the info. This makes sense. I had already downloaded the drivers last week. I don't show anything missing in Device Manager or with the yellow warning icon. Which device should I try updating. I don't see anything related to Intel chipsets. I did run the firmware update...

Massive Battery Drain on Surface 3?

Well, if you've seen my other thread people said Pro would work on the Surface 3 no problem because places like CDW are shipping it with Windows Pro. I installed Pro on my S3 and I'm having the exact same problems with the same unregistered devices. So, it is something with whatever...

How do you handle going to bed to music/video on the Surface 3?

MS says it's a tablet when you want it to be and a laptop when you need it to be. However, there's no true "sleep timer" that will close any video/music streaming apps. This is especially helpful when I'm watching shows on Netflix when I go to bed. Netflix queues up the next episode...

Massive Battery Drain on Surface 3?

Well, I re-imaged with a fresh install of the 8.1 Enterprise ISO and same thing (didn't install any patches). I lost 20% in 34 minutes. This time the processor was utilizing the battery instead of the previous unidentified devices. I'm going to roll back to factory 8.1 Core and make sure I...

MS told me that anything other than 8.1 core is not recommended

What's the difference between Consumer and Business version of Surface 3?

MS told me that anything other than 8.1 core is not recommended

It runs. It just drains the battery (in my particular case) at the rate of 15% an hour in sleep mode. I'm using the official driver pack that MS just released so I'm wondering if it's a patch issue. After installing it, I had to download over 5GB of patches since it was a base 8.1 ISO I used...

MS told me that anything other than 8.1 core is not recommended

I'm just relaying what MS told me. I think it should be more than capable of running Pro or Enterprise according to MS's specs for the OS. But I'm seeing a massive battery drain running Enterprise (15% an hour when in sleep). All I see on CDW is the Surface Pro 3 running Professional. I...

Massive Battery Drain on Surface 3?

Consumer. My department doesn't have the info to contact business support (it's a big organization and we're a little part of it) so I couldn't chat with them.

MS told me that anything other than 8.1 core is not recommended

I just got off a chat session with MS as a result of my battery drain issue after installing Enterprise (see my original thread). Long story short, they said the developers are currently testing the compatibility of the other OS on the Surface 3 to determine if there might be issues that would...

Massive Battery Drain on Surface 3?

What's the best way to upload the sleepstudy file? Since it's HTML, it won't let me. Should I just change the extension? Also, MS is telling me (I'm on a chat with them) that the Surface 3 is currently only supposed to run the OS it ships with. Greeeeeat . . .

Massive Battery Drain on Surface 3?

I formatted it on the Surface 3 and did exFAT. It's moot anyway. Having the card out for the last hour still saw a 15% drain on the battery.

Massive Battery Drain on Surface 3?

Well that didn't solve anything. I lost 15% in the last hour. I'm going to have to either downgrade to 8.1 Core or re-install Enterprise and install updates in batches and monitor.
