    Surface 2 Shrinking Storage

I'm not upset but I am ANNOYED. Microsoft clearly states on their website that a 32GB surface 2 should have 18GB of space left and this is the reason I went for a 32GB when purchasing my Surface. To have a third of that space missing isn't right. You buy a 20litre fridge but realise it's only 14...

    Surface 2 Shrinking Storage

I would be happy with 32GB as Microsoft claims on their website that the 32GB surface should have 18GB free WITH the recovery portion which is around 4GB. However to be left with around 12/13GB with nothing else on there isn't right. Do other Surface 2 owners, once restoring from fresh and with...

    Surface 2 Shrinking Storage

Nope it did not give me the repartition option. I just selected restore surface with something along the lines of "choose this option if you are going to recycle this PC". I thought that was the deepest level of reset. Interestingly, I now have a file called pagefile.sys which is 1.12GB. (size...

    Surface 2 Shrinking Storage

UPDATE So I've just installed pretty much all the updates, ran all the disk cleans etc and I'm left with 11.5GB with NO APPS OR DATA whatsoever. Is this normal? Microsofts website claims I should have around 18GB left which is what I had before the updates.

    Surface 2 Shrinking Storage

Yes all Windows Updates installed. I also followed that guide and went on more options and deleted the other system files. Also clicked on all the checkboxes and was only about a GB. No Windows Old directory. Just did a restore. If the storage continues to shrink I will send it into Microsoft...

    Surface 2 Shrinking Storage

Hi all, Surface 2 32GB user here, I did a clean refresh about two weeks ago to get ready for the new Uni year etc and had around 18GB. So far so good. After installing roughly 400MB of apps and not touching the Surface 2 until yesterday to get ready for Uni, I now only have 11GB of free space...

Surface free space and recovery; Can I save recovery to cloud and USB?

Thank you for your replies. I'll try and make myself a bit more clearer, sorry for any confusion caused. I'm worried about free space on my surface as I understand the recovery part takes a good 7GB of storage away. Now I understand you can create a recovery USB, but i am worried I would lose...

Surface 3 (Non Pro version) have Intel Core M processors?

Thanks for your replies. My only qualm is that you can now pickup small Windows tablets that run FULL windows 8 (albeit with atom processors etc) My question therefore is, shouldn't microsoft with Windows 10 unify the surface line, but at the same time have different models for different price...

Surface free space and recovery; Can I save recovery to cloud and USB?

That's a good point. In that case, do you mind explaining, or anyone else for that matter, how to make the recovery then upload it onto my own cloud provider in case Microsoft removes support for this?

Surface free space and recovery; Can I save recovery to cloud and USB?

So are you saying there's no point me in downloading the recovery to a USB and then putting the file in the cloud, as it will always be available through Microsoft in the cloud?

Surface 3 (Non Pro version) have Intel Core M processors?

Hey guys, How likely is it that with Windows 10 coming out next year Summer, that we will see maybe a new Surface 3 launch but with a conventional x86 processor such as Core-M rather than an ARM variant or do you think the Core M's are going to be kept aside for the Surface 4 Pro?

Surface free space and recovery; Can I save recovery to cloud and USB?

Hi guys, I've recently got my first Surface 2, it has replaced my android tablet and has so far been amazing! I noticed that when I did a factory reset on my 32GB model I was left with around 18GB of free space, after a few days and minimal app downloads that has gone to 11GB of free space. My...
