I just got a 34" Dell 21:9 for $600 shipped from Amazon. I'm planning to get a second once my new home office desk comes in. I'm using DisplayFusion to split it into multiple virtual monitors.

I highly recommend the Surface Dock for this. I have two 2k screens attached at 60Hz with the SP screen also active and it's totally plug and play. That's at work. I also have three external displays connected to an SP3 dock at home along with the device screen and it works great.

Thanks! That's very helpful. I was just trying to decide whether to get the SP4 i5 8GB 256GB or the SP4 i7 (either config) given that when it's not throttling, my SP3 i5 8GB 256GB works very well. That would save me a decent chunk of $$$ if the net effect is a much more consistently-performing...

Have you considered a 4G LTE USB dongle? Obviously the SP4 only has one USB port and that may already be in use, but if not, it seems like a reasonable option.
