    The evolution of OneNote

Both OneNote's will certainly be using the same Account (so you would need to use the same User Name and Password). They use your Microsoft account to sync into your OneDrive storage. The only time I know of Microsoft account prompting for a change of password would be if you forget your...

    Discussions on sync (syncronization)

To be honest, I think you are over thinking this and worrying about the how's and why's too much. It's making this, for your purposes, far more confusing than it needs to be. To put it as short and simply as I can: The process of Syncing data is simply the automation of moving data between...

    The evolution of OneNote

There is a bit of missing information in this thread, I think. There seems to be some jumping to conclusions, and assumptions of knowledge. So we'll start from the start. The default version of OneNote that Microsoft is now pushing is the UWP. It's got the more touch friendly, basic layout...

    Discussions on sync (syncronization)

Sync becoming a common thing in apps these days. Many apps will sync their data into your account for that App, and allow that data to be accessed across devices and operating systems. This is usually different to any cloud saves or backups you have in place, the apps themselves will deal with...

    Keyboards with/without fingerprint sensor

What sort of problems? I have found it to perfect and quick almost all the time on the Surface Pro 4, the Surface Pro and the Surface Laptop. It does occasionally not work (in situations with funky lighting) but a quick trip into the settings and using the 'improve recognition' option sorts it...

Keyboard Backlight default setting (its always on)

Yep, mine does the same, and always on the highest brightness. It's a bit annoying and means my battery will be draining faster than it should (keyboard backlights do take a fair amount of power). I imagine it's just a driver/firmware thing and an update soon will fix it. I mgiht submit some...

    Keyboards with/without fingerprint sensor

The Surface line now comes with Infared Cameras for Facial Recognition (and it has since the Surface Pro 4 was released). Windows hello paired with this is very secure and ery quick to log in. There is not really any need for a finger print reader as well. The Finger Print Reader on one of the...

What to do about new SB

Sadly, this is the day hat I leave the Microsoft hardware market. I got onto tech support who deemed the Surface Book Dead on arrival. Put me on to the online store who then gave me 2 options: 1) Send the Surface Book in and wait 4+ weeks (due to the Christmas period and high demand) for a new...

What to do about new SB

Hi all. Like many here I am a previous Surface Pro 3 owner (got in on release day here in Australia) who decided to upgrade to the SB. I sold my SP3 in anticipation of the SB, so been having withdrawal (it has only occured to me recently how useful the pen has become to my work flow). I had a...

    Dock - nothing but trouble

There are ways on doing a repair of Windows without data lose or having to reinstall your apps. This is useful if there is something wrong with Core Windows files, but not if there is an app or driver causing grief. You can make use of Restore Points if you know that it used to be fine and a...

    Dock - nothing but trouble

Have you done a refresh of your Surface (wipe it and start again)? To me it is more sounding like a Software/Driver issue, not a Dock hardware issue.

help with pen and Onenote (office pro plus 2016)

The easiest way to do it is to Download the 'Surface Hub' app from the Windows Store. In there you can set the Onenote that opens with the button push (as well as a range of other settings for the pen and Surface).

    Regarding I7 Model - Noise/Throttling

All internal strip downs of the Surface Pro 3 show the same fan and configuration. All write ups mention that they have a fan and no indication that one model has anything different. Not to mention the TDP (Thermal Design Power, or the amount of heat that needs to be dissipated by the thermal...

    Regarding I7 Model - Noise/Throttling

I have taken a look around and can't find anything that shows this.

    Surface Hub updated

What would be good is if it would allow you to Disable the Home button and reassign the Pen top button to home. Then when you go to do notes (in say Onenote) you can disable the home button and since you won't be using the top button to go to Onenote you can use it to go home. Perfect!

What are the best games on SP3

It's Halo: Spartan Assault. It does run well on the Surface pro 3.

    Regarding I7 Model - Noise/Throttling

The fan int he i3, i5 and i7 Surface pro 3's is identical, as are the conditions for it turning on and running. An i3 with it's fan running will sound just as loud as an i7 with the fan running. While the i7 does generate a bit more heat than the i5 models, the i7 does get things done quicker...

    Surface Pro 3 Heat

The back getting hot is part of the passive cooling design of the device. The back helps the device shed heat while it is under load, which means smaller, quieter fan could be used. It is nothing to worry about.

Out of RAM cause of OneNote

It might be. If the workbook is trying to be synced up to SkyDrive with large/many files and it is taking time, it is possible that more RAM and CPU could be used, but I doubt to the extent you are seeing. It might also be a Search/Indexing thing that OneNote is trying to Index everything in the...
