The SP3 can easily handle it but it's 15fps so it isn't smooth. Really the best resolution for quality and FPS is 2.7k at 30fps. Not only are you getting more frames I personally believe that the GoPro is its sharpest and isn't muddy at 2.7k IMO.

Internet Explorer or Chrome? Chrome made it choppy for me.

Well my test was to see if the surface pro 3 could handle 4k uncompressed straight from the camera. The youtube video you link is 4k but compressed using a specific codec to maintain quality but knocking it down to 300mb.

3 minutes, 34 seconds.

I can happily report the video played with no issues. No skipping frames or anything. 4k @ 15fps. I'll upload the video tonight. 1gb will take a bit to upload.

it works for me in metro IE. Also the file is around 330mb. im kinda curious, I'm going to record a 4k 15fps video tonight with my gopro and see how smooth it goes.

Well I completely reinstalled windows erasing everything. I think MS calls it a reset which did fix the problem so far. What I did run into is it didn't back up for a full day and considering I was still messing with everything I didn't like that so I started as new which is fine, I've...

Nope, didn't work. I left it plugged in on internet explorer metro and unused for 15 minutes. (power options, screen off, plugged in set at 10 minutes.). same result.

I restored plans to the defaults, maybe I had a corrupted config file somewhere. I'll test later today.

That's what I'm saying :-) It is enabled to turn off after X amount of minutes. (10 in this case) but its not turning off at all.

Yep, Thanks I'm enjoying my SP3 so far. I haven't gone back to my iPad Air for anything yet. I'm still trying to get a feel for how I want things setup. (apps, icons, etc.)

I tend to fall asleep while surfing the internet, when I wake up instead of my surface screen off, its on the swipe up to login screen and the screen is on. So it appears to be going to the swipe to login screen but not turning off the screen after X amount of minutes.
