I had the same issue with my i5/256/dgpu. I let it charge a little, kept it plugged in, then hit the power icon on the screen and chose restart. Then I got the menu for setting language, etc. I'm going through that setup now.

I finally got a chance to use the Samson Go Mic in a larger lecture hall. It works quite well in omni mode. If you tend to type a lot while taking notes it might pick up the touch cover typing sounds but I tend to handwrite notes so that wasn't an issue for me.

I share your feelings on the keyboard cover :) I didn't see the value for $130 and instead opted to go with a Mime ghost glass screen protector in a sleeve case and a logitech K810 that I already owned. I have yet to find one like you're talking about but I'd be interested too.
