Need help - ideal device for everyday work

I like my Surface Book 2 13.5 inch screen. It’s a lot cheaper than the 15 inch and for travel it’s a great size in my opinion with excellent battery life.

Turns on but won't start up

Try letting the battery die. Do what you can to really drain it empty. Then with the power cord unplugged press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge anything remaining. After that plug the power cord back in and wait 5-10 minutes and see if it will power up then.

Is the USB system on the Surface Book 2 heavily restricted?

Good deal. Well you have exhausted my limited ideas. Hopefully someone else will be of more help as I know the SB2 is a great device and hopefully will meet your needs. Regardless please post back as to the outcome as I'm interested in how this works out for you sir.

Is the USB system on the Surface Book 2 heavily restricted?

I'm not sure what the speed of the built in card reader is but what you might consider trying is a USB 3.1 Card Reader. The only issue is I did a quick search and could only find it in Type C so that would cost you an external hard drive.

Is the USB system on the Surface Book 2 heavily restricted?

I believe the SB 2 has 2 USB 3.1 ports so make sure you get a 3.1 USB and not a regular 3.0 USB as that will make a world of difference on its own. Also are you sure your camera cards are not the bottleneck? Probably a dumb questions but had to ask.

    "0% and not charging"

Crazy idea but has fixed a copy of other laptop issues over the years. Unplug the Charger Run your Surface Book until the battery drains and powers down Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to any discharge out Plug Charger in and see if that fixed it

Surface Pro (2013) vs Surface Pro 6

I think you pose a difficult question. Simple of a tech forum as most here would say yes indeed but difficult for some in that it may not be worth the $1200 - $1500 depending on usage. For me I was using my SP6 8-10 hours a day with some medium weight applications so I couldn't imagine doing...

Solved New Book 2 Owner - Which Windows 10 Version?

I own a Surface Book 2 that I just picked up off of eBay and a SP 6 and can't figure out why the feature updates on the Surface Pro are showing Windows 10 version 1809 but on the Book 2 it's on 1803 and I did a bunch of downloads earlier this afternoon. Shouldn't my Book 2 also be on 1809?

    Brydge 12.3

I went and purchased the Microsoft keyboard and have used it for the past couple of weeks along with the Max case and it worked pretty well. I got pretty good using the touch keyboard when sitting on the couch unless I have something long to type. But last night I decided to get the Brydge back...

Backup Only New and Changed Files

I'll have to read up on creating a batch file as that is the way I want to go with this but you have to run it from the command prompt correct? There is still no way to create a desktop icon to run the batch file is there? Maybe I'll be better off getting Second Copy as it's on $30 and once I...

Backup Only New and Changed Files

    Is Windows Defender Enough

Maybe it does but I have auto updates turned off and I check daily without fail myself. This may not be necessary on my SP but on previous devices this is just a habit I have developed over the years as it is very frustrating to be at work and in the middle of a presentation or preparing for a...
