Missing "Add wireless display" under charm bar.

Already tried that but enabling Hyper-V locks the CPU at full speed, it does not throttle down and kills the battery life :(

Missing "Add wireless display" under charm bar.

YES! Thank you! Uninstalled VirtualBox and now the Add Wireless Display link is back, thanks a lot. Now I just have to find a way to get both working together, or at least an easy way of getting both to co-exist somehow. I need Ubuntu from time to time.

Missing "Add wireless display" under charm bar.

Im having some issues trying to make Miracast work on my Surface Pro 2. I had my surfaced updated before the Jun update and I had no "Add wireless display" link under the Project menu. I changed the Wireless driver to an older one and it came back. Miracast was working perfectly. I...

    It's been heating up! :-\

Its a common bug _only_ with the SP2, the SP1 never had this issue. Its happens on a few other PCs too. And there was no firmware last week, actually there has been no new Firmware releases in the past 2 months.

DirectX / OpenGL development on Surface Pro 2

Well, I dont make stuff in DirectX, but if I want to test performance I test first that everything works how it should, debug and profile the programm in my dev machine. Then, every few builds I test on another old machine.

    It's been heating up! :-\

Yo that's the problem. There is a bug with the Surface Pro 2, if you have a SD Card in, it may cause the System process to go nuts and use always 25% of your CPU. The only fix right now is to either take the SD card out (out of question I guess :) ) or disable the Realtek Audio device. Dont...

Do you have by chance a SD Card always in? :)

DirectX / OpenGL development on Surface Pro 2

Actually you want the fastest possible machine to code/develop, and then get a slow as hell PC to test. OP: I have been using my Surface Pro to develop in Java/Groovy/Python/Android, I know its not what you are doing, but at least for me it works wonders. The 10" screen is too small to be the...

    Quck launch dissapearing on desktop?

Why use Quick Launch? cause not all of us want to have the windows bar fully cluttered, and still have the apps we use the most 1 click away when working with the Surface as a Laptop (Mouse/Keyboard). To answer the OP, I found the issue!! This issue has been driving me nuts since months...

Have they fixed the bug where the device crashes when booting from sleep?

Im now sure it is a hardware problem. I had to exchange my Surface Pro 2 because of the Sleep issue. Used mine for a couple months but it got to the point where it was just unbareable, the darn thing could ALWAYS crash if I´d remove the keyboard while sleepin or connect it or whatever. Chatted...

    constant on and off

Thats what I said :P Its not good _ONLY_ if you really use it like the OP said. Hibernate on and off 20+ times a day just to check the time, just like you would do with your normal Android tablet.

    constant on and off

If you are going to be sleping/waking up the Surface like the OP says, using hibernate, you are going to destroy your SSD. It really does not matter if you only Hibernate 5- 10 times a day. Do it like your normal Android/IOs tablet.. and that will be the hell of a wear on a SSD. If your Surface...

    constant on and off

There is no problem with turning it on/off 100000x times if you want. Just be sure to be using Sleep and not Hibernation :) The Pro does not have Connected Standby, but it comes fast enough from sleep to be used like a normal tablet.

Anyone else noticed the fans & heat from SP2 a lot more recently? Poss since update?

System and System Interrupts, its a common Windows 8.1 bug, its been seen on other laptops. It happens pretty much every time you hibernate or turn on your Surface when it has been shut down AND a MicroSD card is inserted. Does not TEND to happen when the machine Sleeps. The work around (as...

    Windows 8.0 on SP2

Im getting to that desperation point too. MS offered me an exchange machine. Sadly ill be getting a refurbished machine.. and who knows in what state (I have read some horror stories already). Mine has a full skin installed and a screen protector since taking it out of the box, if the...

    Windows 8.0 on SP2

So, I´m having some free time and decided to experiment with my surface and try to find a fix/cause to the insanely annoying crash from sleep issue. The well known problem: - Sleep tablet. - Wake it up -> Fans spins, it turns itself off. - Turn it on, ID41 issue on event viewer...

music playing, while saving the juice

Yeah, it is possible to turn the display off and just use it like that. Just beware that as soon as you touch the screen it will turn on again. It still works wonders when downloding stuff, listening music or just waiting for something to complete. Listening music with the screen off will give...
