I'm not having the best of luck here. I am on my third Type Cover (2). First one had a down arrow that only works sometimes, my second one the 'A' key didn't work, and now I'm on my third, and hoping for the best, because you basically can no longer buy the Type Cover 2 anywhere locally anymore...

As far as a mouse is concerned, the Microsoft Sculpt Bluetooth mouse looks like a nice replacement for the Surface mouse of which I couldn't see myself buying... the folding flat feature is nice, but, besides that... But, I digress: Amazon.com: Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse (H3S-00003)...

My apologies. Didn't realise you were looking for non-cloud :) You can do targeted backups with Crashplan for what it's worth, to local disk storage, as well. They just also offer cloud based as well (which is handy if you don't trust external drives, which I don't, for example :P).

Give Online Data Backup - Offsite, Onsite, & Cloud - CrashPlan Backup Software a try. I use it on my Macs and Windows machines. Definitely a reputable service.

Just checked out the new Surface Pro 2 (in addition to the other one I already have), has far worse bleed all across the bottom of the screen...definitely going back.

It sounds a bit dumb, but the new angle makes all the difference. I always felt the Surface set on way too high of an angle. This is perfect (for me).

Yeah, I almost can't see it at all in the day time. The only time I can see the hot spots is at night, watching Netflix, or anything with a black background. (or dark grey). I really have to be a dark environment when I run the test at 100% brightness to check. Just out of curiosity, did you run...

I will add, for the sake of historic reference, I had three Surface RT devices in the past as well, and each of them had bleed, some worse than others (the last of three had severe digitizer problems). I have yet to see a post online of a perfect Surface Pro/Surface Pro 2, however typically...

I had a purple keyboard, and the letter 'A' didn't work properly. Returned for black (all they had was pink, blue and black...and blue is too bright). Time for an exchange/return.

Chrome supports high-DPI scaling, but it's not on by default. This can result in it being fuzzy, and also touch input won't work properly. To resolve this, open Chrome and type in the location bar: chrome://flags/#high-dpi-support Change the setting from 'Default' to 'On'. It's not perfect...

I have some bleed in the top left corner, which is really only visible on all-black in the dark, however I know it's there. I did a test, just to check it out in a windowless room, in the complete darkness, and once my eyes adjusted, I could individually count 8 specific points of light around...
