If it's like Apple you need permission from them to run in the background. It's usually first-party apps that do it.

The thing is, GPU performance isn't exclusively for gaming. Windows uses it for rendering a lot of things, be it webpages, videos, the OS itself...it's not all CPU dependent.

Firefox still has the add-ons which are top notch. FBPurity, AdBlockPlus, all the themes, plus it's still very fast. Last I saw, FFMetro was launching as Firefox 26 on December 10th.

I only notice it if I disconnect the headphones when the screen is off. I have to get the screen on, then reconnect and disconnect the headphones to fix it.
