So, do you ever use the Windows button?

Ditto. It's very convenient in that mode.

    macbook air replaced with sp2

I took a roundabout way, but essentially I replaced my MBP 17" i7 (and iPad) with the SP2 8/256 I now have. Took a year since I sold all my iStuff, trying a Yoga 13 first with a TPT2. Now my SP2 serves as desktop, laptop, and tablet all in one. It's working out very well. I only need one other...

Is it me or metro IE freezes and crashes at amazon.com?

My Atom Windows 8 tablet (TPT2) has no problem with Amazon.com using the "Metro" IE. I go there all the time. I even stream video, though occasionally ― or with some movies/TV shows ― I get stalls and stuttering (desktop IE is no better in those instances). Sent from the SurfaceForums.net app...

Dell Venue Pro 11 serious competitor of Surface Pro 2, what do you think?

Along with the other valid points by others in the thread, this Forbes article gives me pause: Dell Builds Better Tablets But Can't Impress Its Own CEO - Forbes In short, if/when Michael Dell takes the company private there's a good chance all these consumer devices will get orphaned. He...

Dell Venue Pro 11 serious competitor of Surface Pro 2, what do you think?

I'll give the Dell serious consideration, like the Sony VAIO Tap 11, once some real reviews come out. SP2 doesn't need any, for me, because it's an incremental upgrade of the SP1, which has real reviews such as the one at AnadTech.com. Twenty-nine days after reveal Sony has yet to put up Tap...

    Pre order or store order?

What, Microsoft doesn't have an accurate crystal ball? How shortsighted of them not to purchase one. ;) You can check your pre-order in your account at the MS Store. Mine still says the 21st, as expected. We're locked in. Sent from the SurfaceForums.net app for Windows 8

    Pre order or store order?

I guess there might be some long queues at sticks & bricks stores. At the moment I see that the charcoal type 2 keyboard is "email me when available", Surface 2 64GB won't ship till the 25th, and Surface Pro 2 256GB/512GB units pushed back to October 29. It doesn't matter what the reason is ―...

Office dileverd or discount with the Surface Pro 2?

I was using Open Office until I got my TPT2. Nice software, and free, but it's not at all touchscreen friendly. I switched to Office 365 which works wonderfully with touch (Word, specifically, since that's about all I use in my work). Sent from the SurfaceForums.net app for Windows 8

Are you annoyed that the Surface Pro 2 has come out so soon?

If I had an SP1 I'd be waiting a year for SP3 and Broadwell. Maybe a power cover to hold me in the meantime. As it is, I may be facing the hard decision next year between my SP2 and the new, lighter, thinner, etc., SP3. :P Sent from the SurfaceForums.net app for Windows 8

    Surface Ordering Problems?

I was trying PayPal at first until I noticed that it was credit card only for pre-orders. I think all the web errors were on their end. I started with and eventually completed my order with Metro IE after trying desktop IE a couple of times with the same errors.

    Pre order or store order?

I did consider getting my SP2 from a physical MS Store. But then I read the return policy on the website: Items ordered from the Microsoft Online Store can only be returned or exchanged at the Microsoft Online Store. Items purchased at a Microsoft Retail store location can only be returned...

Who is pre-ordering? And which model are you pre-ordering?

The question should be: why *not* pre-order? The MS Store doesn't charge your card until it ships, you can cancel up until it ships if you change your mind, it will ship the earliest date possible (by the 21st), and there is a chance, no matter how small, that one or more of the SKUs *will*...

    Pre order or store order?

Mine, ordered half an hour after they opened the gates, took three hours. They certainly got a lot of ordering activity. Although I see from the site that nearly 24 hours later none are sold out, which is good -- it means they predicted demand well unlike the first time when the 128GB kept...

    Pre order or store order?

FYI, I just got my email confirmation, three hours after the order. That's a pretty clogged system, though there's no way to know what's hot, yet. From what I read on various forums, the 256GB is everyone's choice. We'll see.

    Pre order or store order?

I can't begin to guess availability of the 256GB/8GB Surface Pro at stores the day before release. Maybe in a few days we'll hear news of how the pre-ordering is going and which versions are selling out. I took no chances and spent half an hour this morning getting a 256GB/8GB SP2 + Touch Cover...

Who is pre-ordering? And which model are you pre-ordering?

The rumor (M.J. Foley, "All About Microsoft") was: Surface Pro 2 will start at $899 for a 64GB version, according to the aforementioned source. There will be 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB models available at $999, $1,299 and $1,699, respectively. The announcement confirmed the 64GB price but...

Who is pre-ordering? And which model are you pre-ordering?

Exactly the same, here. 256/8 because I want/need the 8GB RAM. I would have been okay with the 128GB SSD if it was offered with 8GB RAM. Sold my Lenovo Yoga 13 (which I had upgraded to 8GB) last week in anticipation. I thought the $700 would cover more than half the SP2 + type cover price, at...

Sony VAIO Tap 11 : Thinner Haswell Surface Pro

Agreed, I take back what I wrote. I don't know why I was thinking the bigger SSDs were a lot cheaper now. The rumor of SP2 pricing ($1699 for the 512GB) makes the Sony look like a bargain and now I suspect the article was incorrect, or that the price refers to one with a smaller SSD. Sent from...

Surface Pro 2 - Who's Waiting for It?

The success or failure of Surface affects me not one whit. I am neither an MS employee nor stockholder. As long as Microsoft continues warrantee support on the SP2 I purchase I do not care how it fares in stores or popularity contests. It is not a fashion statement, for me, nor a status symbol...
